At The Spa

The soothing interiors of COMO Shambhala Point Yamu continue the themes employed by designer Paola Navone throughout the interiors of the resort. Blue tiles reflect the hues of the sea and the Sino-Portuguese architectural heritage of Phuket, with orange accents inspired by the robes of local monks.

The contrast between the soothing and the opulent is also reflected in the spa treatments, where local ingredients and ancient wisdom are combined with the latest in wellness technology. Here, massages and treatments inspired by Thai tradition come into play alongside those inspired by Asian modalities and western innovation.

The spa encourages guests to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance, not only to avoid having their appointments shortened but also to enjoy the other features of the spa proper. First-time guests are also required to fill out forms to determine any contra-indications to treatment.

FACILITIES

Like many of COMO Point Yamu’s own accommodations, the eight treatment rooms at the spa have breathtaking views of the mountains and the Cape Yamu shoreline. Two of the treatment rooms serve as alcoves for Thai massage, which is one of the spa’s own treatment specialties.

Guests are also treated to an amazing view of Phang Nga Bay at the relaxation area, where they are welcome to lounge and reflect before and after treatment. The indoor-to-outdoor construction of the relaxation area allows guests to enjoy the views and the sea breeze without being fully under the sun.

Apart from the spa, guests can also take advantage of access to COMO Shambhala’s other wellness facilities, which include the resort’s own fitness center as well as group yoga classes for the family. And for delicious spa meals, the clean-eating specialties of the COMO Shambhala Kitchen are available from the hotel’s in-house restaurant La Sirena.

SIGNATURE TREATMENTS

COMO Shambhala Point Yamu’s signature treatments are meant as self-care solutions that achieve desired results. Massage, body care, traditional medicine, and even modern technology are employed in these treatments to induce inner peace and create a sense of calm and relaxation.

The most unique signature treatment at the spa is the Abdominal Chi massage, which takes inspiration from Thai medical tradition. The massage targets the abdominal and stomach area, especially the parts covering the internal organs where stress can accumulate. Benefits of this treatment include soothing stomach aches and reducing fluid retention.

Meanwhile, the Traditional Thai Signature Therapy starts with a full body scrub made with lemongrass, galangal, and other local herbs, followed by a herbal compress to soothe muscle aches and pains. Among the benefits of this treatment are improving blood circulation and revealing smooth skin.

For sunburned guests, the COMO Shambhala Sun Soother is designed to help them recover from excessive exposure to the sun. Besides lowering skin temperature and reducing redness, this treatment is intended to nourish the skin after sun exposure.

New to the spa are the Health-Tech Therapies, which incorporate the use of treatment machines to address specific issues. These machines include the Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment machine for infusing the body with fresh oxygen and a SleepHub machine that helps guests fall asleep during therapy. Cold water therapy is also included in this menu.

Other specialties range from customized oil-based massages to mud masks and therapies for detoxifying the skin. In addition, facials at the spa employ Guinot skincare products imported from Europe to provide facials that restore youthful glow and combat the effects of pollution on the face.

SERVICES

COMO Shambhala Point Yamu’s spa packages encompass a wide variety of guests who need specialized care. Depending on the nature of the treatments, these packages can be customized by the guest based on their preferences as well as their sensitivities.

Men get their own specialized menu of services at the spa, including a 90-minute Complete Man package with a targeted neck, shoulder, and back massage followed by a facial treatment and basic nail care. Deep tissue massage can be added to the package, which will extend the duration of the treatment to 120 minutes.

The kids’ menu has a collection of gentle facials and massages using products formulated specially for children. The Wellness Path for Young Ones package combines these services into a pampering session where kids get their choice of targeted massages or facials followed by a manicure and pedicure.
